THEATRE BOX IS A SERIES OF FREE THEATRE WORKSHOPS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS . WORKING WITH PROFESSIONAL THEATRE SET DESIGNERS, COSTUME DESIGNERS AND SOUND AND LIGHT DESIGNERS THE WORKSHOPS ARE AN INTRODUCTION TO THE WORLD OF THEATRE AND THE MANY JOBS WITHIN IT.
Using a short play, which has been specially commissioned for this project, the young people design and make their own Theatre Box and plan how the play will be staged. There is a final sharing show with a voice over of the play and bringing the set to life on screen.
The schools are left with a beautiful 1:50 wooden scale model theatre - with different scene designs which will have been made by students during the workshops - a printed copy of the commissioned play text, information packs on the many roles and jobs within theatre and how to pursue a career in the arts and a jigsaw of all the roles within theatre.
