The scheme will offer an early career individual the opportunity to work for Turtle Key Arts across all areas of the company’s varied programme of work.
We will offer our young producer a paid 18-month contract. They will learn:
- How to develop, book and produce large and small scale theatre tours
- How to develop, book and produce community outreach projects
- How to raise project funds and make applications to both public and private foundations and arts organisations
- Marketing and promotional skills to engage and develop audiences
Paid opportunities to produce for the arts are hard to come by, especially for individuals from a low socio-economic background and we hope this scheme will help to redress that balance.
“TURTLE KEY ARTS SUPPORTED ME AND INVOLVED ME IN EVERY ASPECT OF BEING A PRODUCER; FROM THE LOGISTICS OF PUTTING ON A PRODUCTION, TO HOW TO TOUR A SHOW, DELIVER MARKETING WORLDWIDE, CREATE AN ENGAGING AND MEANINGFUL OUTREACH PROGRAMME, AND CONNECT WITH DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES. TURTLE KEY’S MAGIC IS TO MAKE EXCELLENT ART AND TO MAKE IT ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE. THIS MISSION IS AT THE HEART OF MY PRACTICE AND IS WHAT I HAVE TAKEN INTO MY FUTURE CAREER.” Kelly Codling-Bray producer at Turtle Key Arts from 2017-2023
