Musical Portraits
CELEBRATING INDIVIDUALITY THROUGH MUSIC AND CREATIVITY.
MUSICAL PORTRAITS IS A CREATIVE PROJECT FOR AUTISTIC YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 10-14, DELIVERED DURING THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.
Working with portraits from the National Portrait Gallery as inspiration, participants create their own original music with support from professional artists, composers and musicians. Through music, movement, visual art and performance, they are encouraged to explore ideas, express themselves creatively and build confidence in a supportive environment.
The project culminates in a live performance for family and friends, celebrating the creativity, individuality and achievements of everyone involved.
"Jojo had a wonderful time - it’s been really good for him - the social interaction and confidence building are wonderful. Thank you - I think the biggest plus for Jojo was the inclusive environment - it meant he could just be." - Parent of participant
Musical Portraits is free to all participants and is a partnership between the National Portrait Gallery, Wigmore Hall and Turtle Key Arts.
