TURNING LIVED EXPERIENCE INTO CREATIVE EXPRESSION.
GIVING YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV A CREATIVE VOICE. ART IS KEY IS A WEEK-LONG CREATIVE PROJECT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE UK LIVING WITH HIV, DELIVERED IN PARTNERSHIP BY TURTLE KEY ARTS AND CHIVA (CHILDREN’S HIV ASSOCIATION).
Working with professional artists across dance, theatre, music, recording and film, participants create original work inspired by their own experiences, ideas and messages. The week culminates in a sharing for an invited audience, giving young people the opportunity to express themselves creatively and communicate what it means to be living with HIV in the UK today.
Art is Key provides a safe and supportive space for creativity, collaboration and connection. Through performance and the arts, participants are able to explore their voices, build confidence and share their perspectives in ways that challenge stigma and encourage understanding.
In 2018 the film LIFE GROWING UP was created from conversations, real stories and reflections shared by young people during Art is Key.
The project has taken place at venues including Platform Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith and Sheffield University.
ART IS KEY IS FREE TO ALL PARTICIPANTS.
