COVID 19 UPDATE FROM TURTLE KEY ARTS

COVID 19 UPDATE FROM TURTLE KEY ARTS

After over a year of working from home it has been so good to bring the Turtle Key Arts team back to the Lyric and to be able to see each other and discuss and plan face to face. It has been just wonderful coming together again to share ideas and plan live projects and productions as the road map out of Lockdown takes shape and restrictions continue to ease.

Since April we have had live projects happening where we got out into communities, meeting and engaging with those who have been most isolated and vulnerable. We have brought groups and individuals together to dance and sing again. Not only was it very special for those involved but also for us to be back doing what we do best, live and in person once again.

We have also had Ockham’s Razor out on tour, and I am so proud of everyone involved for enabling it to happen safely and sensibly. We are also very grateful to all the audiences that are coming back out, watching and supporting our work. Our regular clubs and classes, Key Club and Amici also have come back into the room after over a year online and it has made such a difference to the individuals involved.

Turtle Key Arts continue to keep lobbying and listening. We are one of 50 organisations involved in helping shape London’s cultural recovery and working with freelancers. We are also creating our own Freelancer code of conduct to ensure that freelancers have the voice they deserve in our sector.

We continue to remain dedicated to our collaborating artists, partners, participants, and freelancers. We continue to roll out as many of our core outreach and participation activities as possible as well as planning new and exciting projects as well. We continue to support the work of our collaborating companies over the coming months as they return to venues and rehearsal rooms. We also busy planning new and innovative ways to reach all of you and to work safely.

We are still here, and we care for the future of the arts. We believe that using the arts to reach people, bring people together and allow creativity and freedom of expression seems even more important now.

It has no doubt been a very challenging time for so many and we are grateful to all our partners, funders, supporters, participants, freelancers, collaborating companies, staff team and trustees for all their belief, support, resilience and dedication.  We are proud to have not only ensured the survival of Turtle Key Arts but to have also delivered some very key arts projects and productions online.

We have many projects happening over the summer both live and online, we hope to see you ate one of our events soon.

We continue to nurture and strive for a bold new future.

Ali, Charlotte and all the Turtle Key Arts team.
