COVID 19 UPDATE FROM TURTLE KEY ARTS

COVID 19 UPDATE FROM TURTLE KEY ARTS

It has been over a year since the country went in to the first national lockdown and like so many arts organisations we have been keeping ourselves busy working from home, moving projects online and trying to reach those that are isolated and vulnerable.

From April 13th  the team at Turtle Key Arts will be returning to our home at the Lyric Hammersmith, coming together again to share ideas and plan live projects and productions as the road map out of Lockdown takes shape and restrictions ease.

It has no doubt been a very challenging year for so many and we are grateful to all of our partners, funders, supporters, participants, freelancers, , collaborating companies, staff team and trustees for all of their belief, support, resilience and dedication this last year.  We have not only ensured the survival of TKA but we have also delivered some very key arts projects and productions online.

We do however continue to nurture hope, hope for a bold, brave and new future.

In March we actually got back into rehearsal rooms making work and in April we have two projects that are taking to the streets as we begin to work live again.

Turtle Key Arts promise to keep lobbying and listening, to learn from this last year and continue to adapt. We promise to remain dedicated to our collaborating artists, partners, our participants and freelancers. We promise to continue to roll out as many of our core outreach and participation activities as possible and supporting them as they start  happening live. We promise to support the work of our collaborating companies over the coming months as they return to venues and rehearsal rooms. We also promise to come up with new innovative ways to reach all of you and to work safely.

We promise that we are still here and we care for the future of the arts. We believe that using the arts to reach people, change lives, heal, bring people together and allow creativity and freedom of expression seems even more important now.

Here are some thoughts from some of the participants and artists involved in the projects we have run over these last few months.

Just to say thanks a bunch for fun and music, Friday Mornings are really helpful in breaking up
the daily grind! - A Participant

Shared experiences are very hard to come by in our new locked down world. Learning and performing music together provides a great structure and opportunity for creativity, companionship and having fun together. A particpant

Thanks to you and all your colleagues for keeping such an inspiring part of our lives going during lock down. - Husband of a participant

Seeing Ingrid and our friends. Feeling part of a group so we were no longer lonely during Lockdown- Young Amici participant

Would just like to say, as a direct beneficiary, a big thank you for all of the work that you have put into enabling TKA projects to keep running so well...It's been a massive boon for me to be able to continue working over this lockdown, and it would have been a very different experience had I not had the Turtle Opera project as part of my week. So thank you : ) A freelance artist

Thank you for visiting our website and we look forward to a time when we can get back to connecting in person with our audiences and our communities and to celebrating 30+ years of our work with you all.

Thank you!

Ali, Charlotte and all the Turtle Key Arts team.
